3 Things That I Learned From Packing

We all do it once or twice in our lifetime. We have a love/hate relationship with it. We sometimes even dread it. But we all gotta do it. What am I talking about? I’m talking about packing! Whether you’re doing it to move into a dorm room, a new apartment, or even packing for a trip abroad, it’s tough stuff. It’s emotionally AND physically draining. But here are 3 things that I learned whenever I pack for anything.

1. Packing for me represents a new chapter that is about to start. So I try to stay optimistic because a new season of life is about to happen. I learned to view it as a time to change and celebration.
2. I learned that I really don’t need a lot to survive/function on a day to day. When I pack up I usually find endless things that I never even knew I had. This makes me realize that I just need the essentials, nothing less; nothing more .
3.It makes me reflect and slow down to remanence. We live a fast paced life. I’m the type of person who loves to just zip through my to do list with no remorse. But beautiful things are felt when we slow down to fully be aware. When I pack/unpack, I like finding old holiday cards, photos, journals, and graphic t-shirts because it’s got history. It makes me thankful for the journey that I’ve been through while staying optimistic for what’s ahead.

We all have a history. Sometimes, we are so busy looking ahead at these future goals and aspirations that we forget to take time to admire the path that we’ve already walked. Packing for me transformed into something that is both therapeutic and empowering because it’s allowed me to take time to reflect and feel a lot of gratitude. So next time you’re packing, I hope this post makes it a little less annoying and a bit more rejuvenating for you.

Cheers,

Bella
